The activ rudder is unique. The power of the activ rudder is much greater than that of normal exterior rudders. With first class operational reliability you don't have to worry about the rudder when you paddle ashore, as you do with traditional rudders. 

 

The drag of a traditional rudder is bigger than with the activ rudder because the blade is behind the hull. However the activ rudder is an extension of the hull giving more power by increasing the waterline.
